Picking a Jury

by | Mar 1, 2025 | Firm News

I recently began preparing for a jury trial scheduled for about 6 weeks from now. It’s a business dispute involving millions of dollars. As usual, the judge has questioned whether the parties really want a jury in a matter involving “wealthy” business people fighting over money. Yes! It is true that our jurors will more likely than not be middle class citizens. But that fact alone does not dictate whether or not they will care about the plights of the litigants. That task is singularly up to me. It is my job to find the themes that make a jury care and point it on its way to a favorable verdict. Jury trials are hard, but they are uniquely well-suited to get to the heart of the matter at issue in a business dispute.
