Getting Ready

There’s nothing quite like getting ready for trial. There really is no particular blueprint. What is required is focus and energy. You have to prepare yourself, while simultaneously making sure everyone on your team is also prepared. To complicate things, you’re dealing with a moving target because at any moment you have to handle newly filed motions, unavailability of witnesses, schedule changes, etc. All the while, the rest of your life and law practice keeps rolling along and issues will invariably arise that also need your attention. Advice to young lawyers – if this doesn’t sound fun and challenging, find another area of the law. Trial lawyers are a different breed.
