Memorial Day Message

by | May 28, 2023 | Firm News |

Happy Memorial Day to all! Memorial Day was enacted by Congress in June 1968 as a Federal holiday where we remember those who died fighting in the service of our country. It is also considered the “unofficial” start of Summer. How did Summer “unofficially” start before Memorial Day was enacted? Under the law, the actual observance did not commence until 1971. What a bummer, right? This means that, in 1969 and 1970, people had to “unofficially” start their summers without a Federal holiday to back them up. For those of you “unofficially” starting your Summers this weekend, stay safe and enjoy. Also, take a moment to remember those who have died in service of our country.
