When One Door Closes. . .

When one door closes another one opens. So the saying goes. And whoever came up with that phrase knew something about business litigation – or at least my practice. Over the last few weeks, I have closed several files and bid adieu to a few clients whose cases have been resolved. One might think that closing a file would be bad for future business, after all there will be no more fees earned on those closed files. But it never seems to work that way. Without fail, when I close one file a new case seems to show up at my door. My theory is that subconsciously I am more available to taking on new cases and to networking during these periods. Whatever the reason, it makes the practice both interesting and challenging.
