It is important to give back to the community. One of the ways that I try to do that is in counseling people about how to get help for their legal problems. I field many calls every month from potential law clients who, unfortunately, have contacted me about representation in a practice area that I do not handle. I think it is important to still take some time to hear about the issue and attempt to shepherd the caller to an attorney or other practitioner who can help. Over 30 plus years of practice, I have made collegial relationships with many fine attorneys in most very field of practice, and taking the time to make a reasoned referral to a potential client benefits us all.
